WHAT IS (IOT)? INTERNET OF THINGS, WORK
Internet Of Things Imagine you have left your home forgetting to turn off the air conditioner. Instead of coming all the way back home to turn off the AC, this can simply be done with IoT where in the status of the air conditioner can be monitored from wherever we are.
Until recent times, the Internet was restricted only to devices like mobile phones, laptops, tablets and computers. But with the advent of the Internet of Things, it is possible to connect all appliances like, television, refrigerator, air conditioner, lights, fans, etc.. to the internet thus making them smart.
The internet has been one of the most important and transformative technologies ever invented and this internet in particular is not just about connecting people but connecting things and hence the name – Internet of Things.
The full definition of the Internet of Things
Internet of Things goes beyond just a simple device connected to the internet. Consistent with trends in the 4th industrial revolution, the IoT is better defined
by the convergence of technology. IoT is a system of inter- related systems connect to the internet to transfer and receive data from one to the other.

In other words, it is a group of device attached to the internet that collect and exchange data using nodes and controllers. Working of IoT A device on the Internet of Thing is an internet connected smart device which is designed to do a particular task.
for example,
monitor temperature or record a video. Sophisticated sensors and chips are embedded in the physical things that surround us, and each transmits large volumes of valuable data. But how do these devices handle such large volumes of data? It’s simple.
The process starts with the devices themselves which securely communicate with a IoT platform. This platform integrates the data from many devices and applies analytics to share the most valuable data with application that address industry specific needs.
Huge amount of cloud base storage
Sensor technology with low power requirement and plenty of IPv6 address – all contributes to the effective working of massive number of devices designed to improve our quality of life in home or business. In IoT we can connect everyday things which are embedded with either electronics, software or sensors to the internet and this in turn enables us to collect and exchange between these things.
Let’s understand with the help of an example.
Let’s say we have an internet platform in our home and we can connect the lock, the AC, the light and all these are managed by the same platform.
Since we have a platform we can also connect our car to this. We can keep a track of the fuel meter, speed limit and also the location of the car as well. Wouldn’t it be cool to control the AC at home while driving in the car from office on a sunny day? That’s all about the functioning of IoT devices.
